Nest // Two Spaces with Loft

A shack doesn't need a lot, it needs ‘just enough’.

Resting near the edge of Narawntapu National Park, this Homeful Nest draws inspiration from the 'trunks' of the local Xanthorea grasses with its dark colour palette, with moments of rich-oiled spotted gum timber externally.

Once the native garden is planted + grows around, it will settle like a shadow into the landscape.

With 35.5m2 of indoor space, the Nest is anything but claustrophobic.

The living area holds a kitchen, bakers wood heater + a sunny window seat with storage below, all under an airy double height - asymmetrical gable ceiling.

The bathroom, entry + outdoor shoe storage is all tucked-in neatly under a loft, which is a glorious giant bunk bed with views into the canopy of the eucalypt forest near by.

Then the Nest breathes out again, with a second double height space, with a full wall of storage, at the other end of the shack, which can be a bedroom or another living area with room for a table tennis table!

This little Nest provides the goods!

The living deck has loads of room to pop bikes out of the rain + to share meals with friends, with screening to give privacy from the neighbours. An open air laundry acts as the perfect spot to fillet a flathead + a bathtub lies waiting to sooth chilly limbs with warm water under the stars, after a cool evening dip ocean.
